Riding Lesson FAQs

  • We offer lessons on a limited basis to ensure each rider receives individualized attention. Please reach out to inquire about current availability or to join our waitlist.

  • We teach riders of a variety of ages. If you're unsure whether your rider is ready, we’re happy to discuss their experience and goals to determine the best fit. Our young rider program helps children grow both in and outside of the saddle!

  • Riders should wear long pants and shoes with a heel. Helmets are required — we have approved helmets available if you don’t have one yet.

  • Our lessons are tailored to your personal goals. They are one hour long, during which we spend time on riding skills, horsemanship, communication, and goal-setting. Each rider is paired with a horse and trainer that best supports their learning. Expect to learn how to groom and prepare your horse for the lesson, saddle time, and a cool down after.

  • Early lessons often focus on learning safety and building confidence around horses. In your first few lessons, saddle time may be a bit more condensed to allow time to focus on the important building blocks of handling horses. In the saddle we may work on the lunge line or pair you with specific horses to help you build a strong foundation.

  • Yes, though an instructor will always be around to help you find what you need. Newer riders receive guidance as they learn to prepare their horse for the lesson. Seasoned riders are welcome to come prior to their lesson time to prepare their horse.

  • Each rider is matched with a horse based on their goals, experience level, confidence, and learning style. Brittany works with each instructor and individually picks mounts each day. Different horses help riders learn different skills, and we make pairings intentionally.

  • Most riders take weekly lessons, but we offer flexibility depending on your goals and schedule. Some riders take 2-3 lessons a week, while others come bi-weekly.

  • Our program focuses on instruction and horsemanship. Trail riding may be available by instructor approval depending on rider experience.

  • Yes. Our horses are chosen for their steadiness, reliability, and ability to help riders progress safely and confidently. We pride ourselves on having a string of stellar horses, many of which are rescues.

  • Absolutely. We encourage a positive, respectful viewing environment. We like for parents to be involved in and understand the process we take.

  • Lessons are $50 for one hour. Family and group rates are available. We also offer riding packages for 5 and 10 lesson bundles at $45 per lesson. Payment is typically due at the time of the lesson or at the start of a package. We accept Venmo, CashApp, Apple Pay, Cash or Checks.

  • While we understand that life happens, lessons canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice are subject to charge 1/2 the lesson fee. Cancelling within the hour or NCNS lessons will be liable for the full amount of the lesson. This allows us to manage horse use and instructor scheduling responsibly.

  • If riding isn’t possible due to weather, we may offer an unmounted lesson focusing on horsemanship, groundwork, or equine education. If the roads are unsafe to travel we will cancel lessons, and attempt to reschedule when possible.
